Kim Kardashian is being mocked online after she appeared on Variety's Actors on Actors series opposite Chloë Sevigny.
The online video series pairs actors together to talk about their careers and the film industry. In the past, we've seen the likes of Margot Robbie paired with Cillian Murphy, Jodie Foster with Robert Downey Jr., and Timothée Chalamet with Emma Stone.
People were shocked when it was announced that 49-year-old Oscar-nominated actor Sevigny was paired with the reality star, and many said the two women weren't on the same level professionally.
Sevigny has received a variety of impressive accolades in her career, having been nominated for an Academy Award For Best Supporting Actress in Boys Don't Cry and winning a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress thanks to her role in the HBO series Big Love. She has also won a Satellite Award and an Independent Spirit Award.
Kardashian was 27 years old when Keeping Up With the Kardashians started and now she has also forayed into acting. Her first scripted television role was in American Horror Story: Delicate, with its first episode airing in 2023. Her other acting credits include the films Disaster Movie, Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor, PAW Patrol: The Movie, and PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie.
Despite their career differences, both women have starred in Ryan Murphy projects, which is why the two women interviewed each other. That hasn't stopped people online from making fun of 43-year-old Kardashian, sharing their thoughts—and screenshots from the interview—on X, formerly Twitter.
Newsweek emailed spokespeople for Kardashian and Sevigny for comment Thursday.
One X user shared a screenshot with captions of the two women's chat, during a moment when Sevigny asked Kardashian if she was a "cinephile."
"I love nostalgic movies. I'm a Clueless/Notebook kind of girl. What were some of your favorite films growing up?" Kardashian asked.
"Tootsie was my favorite when I was a little girl. I was obsessed with Jessica Lange and then got to work with her, of course, on American Horror Story. And I got to work with Molly Ringwald on Feud, another pinch me moment. Pretty in Pink and Sixteen Candles meant so much to me," Sevigny responded.
"In high school I got into the more independent scene and was drawn to certain actresses, like Mia Farrow and Anna Magnani, the great Italian actress, and Gena Rowlands and I was really drawn to these women who were powerhouses: Elizabeth Taylor and the list goes on and on. Jean Harlow was my favorite. I left while flowers by her grave here in Los Angeles."

People took to the comments to further question why the two women were paired together, with one person writing: "This underscores how pairing these two was insulting to one of them."
"She said said [sic], you wanna play in a league where you don't belong? lol we'll make sure you never wanna touch the ball again," someone else wrote, referring to Sevigny.
"What in the world was she even doing there?" a different X user asked, referring to Kardashian.
A fourth added: "Meanwhile … kim's Googling Jessica Lange [skull emoji and crying emoji]."
However, others were more supportive, with one person commenting: "Both of these women are mother so IDC [I don't care]."
"What I love about Kim is... she doesn't fight to fit in anymore. She's like 'yeah, I like Clueless' and I still was cast on the same show as you," said another.
Another person on X shared a clip from the interview where Kardashian spoke about showing her mom, Kris Jenner, the movie Troop Beverly Hills for the first time.
"And we watched it, and she was crying over the fashion and all these stores that don't exist anymore. And we were like, 'Oh, we can never drive down in a Rolls-Royce in Beverly Hills these days. All the shopping bags out? You'd get robbed.' It was such a different time," Kardashian said.
In response, the X user captioned the video: "Like I'm sorry she just doesn't have couth, self awareness or range." At the time of writing, it had been viewed 1.1 million times.
Many agreed, with one person replying: "Chloë's face every time the camera cuts to her is an absolute master class in self-control. Kudos to her for managing not to groan and eye roll that the Kardashians can no longer drive a Rolls in Beverly Hills."

Not everyone agreed with the original poster, as one person wrote: "lol 20 years as Kim Kardashian, she's not supposed to have couth or range lol."
