Some big-name college basketball transfers made their moves after withdrawing from the 2024 NBA Draft.

Summer workouts are underway across the country, giving college basketball teams their firstlook atnew lineups following a record-setting transfer portalwindow. The unprecedented amount of movement is finally slowing down, allowing teams to focus on the upcoming 2024-25 season.

A key date in the transfer portal cycle was the deadline to withdraw from the 2024 NBA Draft, leading many prospects to return to college for another season. Kansas State, Kentucky, Villanova and Washington State benefited from those decisions by landing transfers aiming to improve their stock for the 2025 NBA Draft. Meanwhile, Kansas, Miami and USC were among those that secured other top transfers.

The list of best available players remaining in the college basketball transfer portal is limited to only a handful of top talents left from the cycle. In fact, onlythree of the top-150 transfer prospects are still uncommitted.

Miami successfully flipped former Stanford guard A.J. Staton-McCray away from Florida Atlantic, filling a major hole on its roster for next season. The All-Southern Conference Third Team selection helped the Bulldogs reach the NCAA Tournament and nearly pull off a huge upset in the first round. Staton-McCray averaged a career-best 11.5 points, while adding 4.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.6 steals to his stat line. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound veteran previously committed to Florida Atlantic in April before flipping and eventually signing with the Hurricanes in early June.

Kansas added more experience to its roster for the 2024-25 season with former Mississippi State combo guard Shakeel Moore now en route to Lawrence as a late transfer portal pickup. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound guard spent theprevious three yearswith the Bulldogs, shooting a career-high 46.8% from the field this past season. Moore averaged 7.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists while starting in 22 of 33 games played. He has more than 120 games of experience in his college career and expects to add more depth to an already stacked backcourt at Kansas.

Former Eastern Washington shooting guard Cedric Coward withdrew from the 2024 NBA Draft just before the deadline in late May and opted to reconnect with his former head coach David Riley at Washington State for the 2024-25 season.The 6-foot-6, 206-pound veteran averaged 15.4 points and 6.7 rebounds for the Eagles this past season. Cowardstarted his college career at Willamette University, a Division III program in Oregon where he averaged 19.4 points per game.

Kansas State secured one of the top shot blockers in college basketball as former Kentucky big man Ugonna Onyenso opted to return to college basketball for at least one more season despite going through the NBA Draft process. The 7-footer garnered interest from Louisville and North Carolina before landing on the Wildcats.Onyensoaveraged 3.6 points and 4.8 rebounds as a sophom*ore last season. He shot 55.0% from the field and just 58.8% from the free-throw line, but averaged 2.75 blocks per game, which ranked fifth in Kentucky history and tied for third in Division I.

Baba Miller | C | Committed to Florida Atlantic

Baba Miller will remain in the Sunshine State as he joins Florida Atlantic and a revamped roster in Boca Raton. The 6-foot-11, 204-pound big man from Spain averaged 7.6 points. 4.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game as a sophom*ore at Florida State during the 2023-24 season. Miller withdrew his name from the 2024 NBA Draft on the morning before the deadline and has two years of eligibility remaining in college.

Florida Atlantic and new head coach John Jackus also picked up a late commitment from former Jackson State combo guard Ken Evans Jr. in early June.The 6-foot-5, 200-pound guard averaged 18.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.9 assistsas the top scorer for the Tigers last season. Evans earned SWAC Player of the Year honorsas the leading scorer in the league for the 2023-24 campaign. Evans shot 40.8% from the field and 39.2% from 3-point range. He has one additional year of eligibility remaining with the Owls.

The former top-50 recruitand6-foot-5, 190-pound combo guard averaged just 3.3 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists in less than 20 minutes of action per game this past season. He made six starts while playing in 33 games. Dual shot just 33.1% from the field and 25.0% from beyond the 3-point line.

Kentucky waited a long time for a decision from former BYU forward Jaxson Robinson, but ultimately secured the standout transfer after he flirted with the NBA Draft process. The 6-foot-7, 190-pound veteran had a strong senior campaign with the Cougars and head coach Mark Pope last season, averaging 14.2 points while shooting 42.6% from the field. Robinson earned Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year honors, too. He has one additional year of eligibility remaining as a two-time transfer that started his college career at Arkansas.

Villanova beat out a number of other power conference programs in its pursuit of Wooga Poplar, one of the best available transfers after the 2024 NBA Draft withdrawal deadline. The6-foot-5, 197-pound veteran averaged 13.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game this past season with the Hurricanes as he developed into an explosive wing. Poplar shot above 41% from the field in each of his three seasons at Miami. He shot a career-best 38.5% from 3-point range as a junior.
